Alcoeur Gardens is and has been home to many veterans over the years. A present resident of Alcoeur Gardens is Kenneth J. McKim, who went into the Army in 1953 and was assigned to the 7071st medics. After training at Fort Dix, NJ, he spent the next two years at Fort Belvoir, VA hospital. He was never sent overseas because he had two brothers in the service, William who was stationed in Germany and Gerald in Vietnam. Ken was discharged as a Corporal in 1955.
